Levada do Pico do Castelo

PS PR 3 Levada do Pico do Castelo follows a twentieth-century water channel built to capture rainwater for agriculture. Starting near Camacha, it skirts the southern foothills of Pico do Castelo and passes heathland, poplars, pine stands, stone-paved sections and views toward the coast and Ilheu de Baixo. The walk reflects Porto Santo's drier landscape and water-management history rather than Madeira's humid Laurissilva character. It is approachable, scenic and useful for understanding the island's rural terrain.
