Trail Description
PR 9 Levada do Caldeirao Verde starts at Queimadas Forest Park and follows an old levada deep into Madeira's humid interior. The walk passes Santana-style shelter architecture, Laurissilva forest, narrow rock-cut paths, tunnels and mossy walls before reaching the impressive waterfall and pool of Caldeirao Verde. It is one of the island's iconic levada routes and can feel adventurous despite the gentle gradient. A headlamp and caution on narrow or wet sections are essential.
