Vereda da Ponta de São Lourenço

PR 8 Vereda da Ponta de Sao Lourenco follows Madeira's eastern peninsula through one of the island's most distinctive landscapes. Instead of Laurissilva forest, hikers find volcanic cliffs, basalt and limestone formations, low vegetation, strong wind exposure and sea views on both sides of the trail. The route leads toward Casa do Sardinha and viewpoints over offshore islets, with Porto Santo visible in clear weather. It is exposed, sunny and extremely photogenic, so water, sun protection and early timing matter.

PR 8 Vereda da Ponta de São Lourenço is a linear trail on Madeira, covering 3 km (6 km round trip), with an estimated walking time of 2:30 hours. It runs from Baía d'Abra to Casa do Sardinha. Altitude ranges from 23 m to 126 m.
