Trail Description
PR 4 Levada do Barreiro runs from Poco da Neve to Casa do Barreiro in the Funchal Ecological Park. The trail follows a quiet levada through high-altitude vegetation and along the Ribeira de Santa Luzia valley, with open views back toward Funchal and the surrounding slopes. Its historic highlight is Poco da Neve, a stone ice-storage structure dating from the nineteenth century. The route is relatively accessible and offers a calm mix of mountain heritage, woodland and city-facing panoramas.
