Vereda do Burro

PR 3 Vereda do Burro links the Pico do Areeiro area with Ribeira das Cales and the Funchal Ecological Park. The route starts high on the mountain, where open views reach toward Curral das Freiras, Paul da Serra and the surrounding ridges, then descends into quieter parkland and valley scenery. It is generally less demanding than the main summit routes, but still includes rocky and exposed mountain sections. The walk is a good way to pair Pico do Areeiro panoramas with Funchal's upland nature.

PR 3 Vereda do Burro is a linear trail on Madeira, covering 7.2 km, with an estimated walking time of 2:40 hours. It runs from Pico do Areeiro to Ribeira das Cales - Funchal Ecological Park Welcome Centre. Altitude ranges from 1130 m to 1805 m.
