Vereda do Urzal

PR 2 Vereda do Urzal follows an old connection between Curral das Freiras and the north side of Madeira. Starting near Faja dos Cardos, the route climbs toward Boca das Torrinhas before descending through increasingly green mountain scenery toward Lombo do Urzal and Boaventura. It combines historic island travel routes, dramatic valley walls, waterfalls, high-altitude vegetation and Laurissilva forest. The sustained ascent and descent make it a full, satisfying walk for hikers who enjoy point-to-point mountain crossings.

PR 2 Vereda do Urzal is a linear trail on Madeira, covering 10.6 km, with an estimated walking time of 4:30 hours. It runs from Curral das Freiras to Lombo do Urzal. Altitude ranges from 519 m to 1450 m.
