Trail Description
PR 17 Caminho do Pinaculo e Folhadal is a long, demanding route through some of Madeira's most varied mountain and forest scenery. Starting around Lombo do Mouro or Encumeada depending on access, it follows levadas, stone-paved paths, tunnels and high ridges through Laurissilva and open viewpoints. Highlights include views over Ribeira Brava, Sao Vicente and the central peaks, plus the lush Folhadal hollows. The length, tunnels, exposure and changing conditions make preparation important.
