Trail Description
PR 13 Vereda do Fanal crosses from the Paul da Serra plateau into the remarkable Laurissilva landscape of Fanal. Ancient laurel trees, mossy trunks, green meadows and frequent mist give the route an atmosphere unlike almost anywhere else in Madeira. The walk alternates between open plateau views, shaded forest and natural viewpoints over surrounding valleys. It is highly photogenic and usually well waymarked, but the ground can be muddy, rocky or slippery after rain.
