Trail Description
PR 1.2 Vereda do Pico Ruivo is the shortest official route to Madeira's highest summit, starting at Achada do Teixeira and climbing to Pico Ruivo. The path passes the Homem em Pe rock formation, follows stone steps and paved mountain sections, and opens onto broad views across the central mountains. Although compact, it still reaches alpine terrain and can feel exposed in poor weather, making it a popular but serious summit walk and a gateway to PR 1, PR 1.1 and PR 1.3.
